Theater Director Turnover at LHS

At the end of the 2017-18 school year, Steve Bergman dropped a bomb at the LHS Theater Banquet; he was quitting his job at the high school and relocating to the south coast. This shocked everyone who had known and loved Mr. Bergman for many years, and who had considered him to be a pivotal member of the theater family. With his departure came confusion about who would be the new director this fall -- or if there would be one at all. However, all was not lost. Rumors soon began to fly around about the new director for the fall play and spring musical. Now, we can say with certainty that we are delighted to have Shawn Cannon joining our LHS Theater Program! Shawn Cannon has been directing shows at The Cannon Theatre alongside her husband, Bret Bahe, for many years. She is happy to be joining us this year and is kicking off the theater season by directing the play Anne of Green Gables, based on the classic children’s novel by L.M. Montgomery. You can support the LHS theater program by seeing Anne of Green Gables in January.

Along with her work at our school, Shawn Cannon is still directing shows at The Cannon Theatre during this time. If you have the time, you should definitely go see a show at The Cannon Theatre when productions begin! The next show being produced at The Cannon Theatre is the play Blackadder, based off of the British comedy aired in the 1980s.
