Love

by Mary Crowley

I see you stare

Watching your green-blue orbs pierce through the sky

Widening and focusing with every object they meet

I watch your expression change with each millisecond

It’s almost as if I can see the fireworks going off behind those eyes

I see you smile

Enjoying the gentle glow that always comes along with it

As if the sun itself came to partake in your joy

I watch you work

Your hands moving at a pace I can’t even begin to understand

Your brow furrowed, your mind narrowed

As if nothing else in the world mattered to you

I’m a little in awe, if I’m being honest

I know what this feeling is

I’m in touch with emotions enough to understand

It won’t go away if I just ignore it

But at the same time

I understand how this could never happen

Or if it could

How it would never work

So, I’ll keep my silly little observations to myself

Watch you

Admire you

And support you from afar

Maybe someday you’ll realize who this is about

Until then, I’ll never admit it to you

Or to myself, love
