Something You Should Know

is that as a kid, I traveled to many places.

Around Massachusetts and to far away states and countries.

I saw cities with bright lights and towering buildings.

I saw the country with farms and deserts.

I saw rain forests with slimy slugs and enormous trees.

The monkeys in Costa Rica, swinging on trees,

and coming a little too close.

The bright orange sand of the desert stuck in my sandals,

Then finding it when we’re back at home.

Perhaps that is why my life seems dull.

We haven't traveled in months and

perhaps, I need a break from the same routine.
