Ever heard of Interact Club? There is one right here in Littleton!

Interact is an international organization sponsored by the Rotary Club of Littleton and Rotary International, where “Interact” is an abbreviation for “International Action.” Across the globe, there are some 20,000 Interact clubs and over 500,000 members all holding a united, common purpose of providing an opportunity for young people to work together in a world fellowship dedicated to service and international understanding. The Littleton Interact Club is a service organization for students in high school who desire to volunteer their time for the community, and there is always room for new members in the club. Any high school students (whether attending Littleton High School or another school) expressing an interest in community service and global citizenship are encouraged to join the Littleton Interact Club!

So far this year, the Littleton Interact Club has organized three projects, and there are more to come. In the past, members put together Police and Fire Station Gift Baskets with donated healthy snacks, Rotary gear, and thank you letters to these brave people who help us everyday. The gift baskets were received with warm thank yous from both stations. Back in October, The Interact Club donated over 20 pounds of candy to Operation Gratitude in Florida, which ships candy to troops overseas, for our Halloween Candy Donation.

At the meeting on January 25th, the members took on a Tees to Toys Service Project and created over 50 dog toys using varying braiding techniques from old T-shirts. These dog toy donations were ultimately proceeded to Bullied Breeds Rescue in Billerica through the Loyal Companion pet store.

In the upcoming months, we plan on hosting a Veteran’s Breakfast in partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for those in the local community who have served. Any students and adults around Littleton are more than welcome to participate as well! In addition, members will be building beds for the homeless through our Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bed Building Service Project, in partnership with the Littleton Rotary Club as a sponsor. The whole community is invited to this as well, but more details will be coming out soon on both of these events!

Want to get involved with the Interact Club and be a part of taking action, building international understanding, and making new friends around the world? Every Interact club organizes at least two projects every year, along with the guidance and mentorship of Rotary club sponsors. Benefits from joining Interact connecting with local and international leaders include making a difference and becoming a leader in your school and community, discovering new cultures, and more. Through Interact, high school students build serious leadership skills while having serious fun.
