Go Pink or Go Home!

On Monday, October 15th, the Littleton Girls Varsity soccer team played their pink game against Bromfield on Alumni Field. They wore pink shirts and socks to advocate for breast cancer awareness. Their previous game against Bromfield, closer to the beginning of their soccer season, ended in a victory for Bromfield: 3-0, making the Bromfield the first team to successfully challenge and defeat the Littleton Tigers this season. Now, with more experience, the Tigers came prepared to fight against their tough opponent.

During their pre-game warmup, the Littleton Tigers were joined by a Littleton U10 travel team. The U10 team joined the Littleton Tigers during the National Anthem and were also supportive fans in the crowd during the game. There is no doubt that the Littleton Tigers hopes to see these girls continue playing and striving to become better players for a spot on the future Littleton Tiger’s girls soccer team.

After the National Anthem, the Littleton Tigers gathered on the field for the start of the game. The Tigers remembered the aggressive and calculated playing style of the Bromfield team and which players were most important to always have guarded from their last game. Sadly, within the first half, the Tigers had lost two of their starting players, junior Cecilia Portante and junior Holly Gouldrup to injuries, who were replaced by junior Emma Nordhausen as a defender and junior Abby Lelievre as a center midfielder. Even with a change in their starting lineup, the Tigers seemed just as strong and confident in play. At the beginning of the second half though, the ball stayed mostly in the Tigers side of the field with a couple of close calls, such as the ball rocketing off of the foot of sophomore Bella Kehoe and barely going over the goal. However, the Tigers denied any goals and kept the score at 0-0 throughout the entire game and ended the game with a scoreless tie. Despite the tie against Bromfield, the Tigers have finished as an overall second place finisher in their league and will continue on to the playoffs. Congratulations to both the Littleton Girls Varsity and JV soccer teams for a season well played, and with the support of LHS good luck in the playoffs. Go Tigers!
